A Rat Hole?
ByI was at a truck stop in Missouri and parked next to an open corn field. I was doing my log book when I caught something move out of the corner of my eye.
Out the window and just ten feet from my front tire was a hole in the ground. I watched for awhile but never saw anything. Then, I caught another glimpse of movement. I pulled out the camera and decided to try and capture the little critter on film.
I saw his nose stick out the hole but the above picture is all I got. Then he ran across from one hole to the other.
I knew if I was patient, I could catch a good shot, but he was fast…
That’s when I found that there were more than just one rat in the rat hole.
Thinking I could lure one out, I tossed a big piece of bread out near the hole… Holy Toledo…
I got my picture!… I think he was happy to give me the picture too… LOL

Glory be! I wonder how many of ‘em were in that hole???
You didn’t get out and try to catch one of ‘em? Now that would have been a sight to see, LOL.

Oh my gosh, how funny! When I saw that critter I sqrinched up my toes. (Is sqrinched a word?)I didn’t realize that rats lived in holes like that. It’s so wet most of the time they’d probably drown if they tried it here.
I bet you get some really fun photos in your travel. I wish I could get around more so I could get interesting pictures. I’m getting kind of bored with whats in my yard, especially now because the flowers are all dying down and most are looking quite pitiful.
My little Matilda is recovering after her miserable ordeal. I’m sure glad she only has to get spayed and micro chipped once! Oh yes, she also had her lepto vaccine and teeth cleaned and one tooth extracted. I felt so sorry for her!
Thanks for sharing your interesting pictures.
God be with you my dear friend,
Love, hugs and prayers

Holy Cow!! That is one big rat! He’s rather cute, though. My son used to have a rat as a pet. They are actually wonderful pets - clean, sweet, and easy to care for. Plus, we just fed them our table scraps. How easy is that? Looks like you had the same idea! LOL Thanks for sharing the pictures! Amazing!
God bless you ~ Julie

I’m not sure what kind of rat that is. It looks just like the pack rats in West Texas.
