Howdy

By Gib@CBO • September 24th, 2008

hello Howdy, hello, how ya doing?, good morning….

These are greetings I use everyday.  I say hello to everybody.  In the south, everybody responds with a howdy, hello, I’m good or good morning right back at ya.

Today, I am in a strange land where beer is strong, taxes are high and nobody speaks.  I think they are all depressed because winter is coming and it’s going to get so cold here that polar bears would move away.

It’s hard to get a laugh out of these people.  Even when I placed one of their stupid "Cheese Head Hats" on my bald head and paraded around the restaurant, they just looked at me like I was nuts.

Well, there is no worry about me moving my stuff to Wisconsin anytime soon.  Until these people loosen up a bit, I’ll just stick with Texas, Tennessee and the good ole south.

I know what you mean about our Northerly neighbors. Most of them anyway…If you speak to a stranger, just being polite, they act like you’re about to mug them, or just plain ignore you.

“Howdy” is my standard greeting. :-)
I’ve been staring at that critter in your “Hello” graphic the whole time I’ve been here reading and commenting, trying to figure out what he is. Is it some kind of dilapidated bird, or what?!? LOL

You and Rosie roll safely, and hurry back down South where the weather and the people are warmer. :-)
    Love and hugs,

    Diane

I live just about as far northwest as you can get without bumping into Canada and I’m not like that. I greet people with Hi or howdy too. I smile at everyone because everyone is a sister or brother and potential friend even if they don’t know it yet.
Now about those poor oppressed folk in Wisconsin, I sure don’t know why they are so unfriendly but I wonder if the enemy has placed a dark cloud of sadness over their city.
I will pray for them and you to dear Gib. What a disappointing situation.
Anyhow you and Rosie just kep on being sweet and friendly. No one is a stranger, they are just friends you haven’t met yet.

Oh I forgot to say that I think the little critter in your graphic is a Mugwump. See, his mug is on one side and his wump is on the other.
    (((smile)))

    LOL Mountain Mama.

I haven’t been getting a good response to Good Morning either lately. Can’t remember where I said it now.

My husband worked for a IT place, and he was one of the last on, the employees that had been there for awhile had been to Texas often. They loved it. That part of the business moved to MN.

When my husband’s turn came to go to the US, he got to go to NY and TN and CA.

He could relate to the garden plantings in Memphis, and the people were nice he said.
