Great Christmas Day

By: Gilbert Purtee

I arrived Christmas Eve at the shipper here in Florida. I was not surprised to see the gate locked but I was told they would be open. I parked my truck and empty trailer across the road in a dirt field and went to bed.

Christmas morning was great. I got up at the crack of noon.

Then came the afternoon. I got hungry and Mother Nature had gone from calling to screaming, “You Go NOW.” Just like in the old days, I pulled out my bow and arrows (figuratively speaking of course) and my toilet paper and went in search of food and an outhouse.

stuffingI figured all that would be open was the Huddle House, but low and behold, the Chink-a-knee’s place was open.

Now, I love Chink-a-knee’s food. I love fried rice. I can put a hurting on a good Chink-a-knee’s buffet. I went in and fortunately, they had not heard of my reputation of being able to run buffets out of business. I ate until my buttons popped.

Serious stuff, it was great. I always have a good time, even on Christmas when I look like I am alone. I was not alone. Because of Christmas many years ago, I have a friend with me always. I can’t help but be happy.

I got my load this morning and I am headed off to Mississippi. Tin-Phore.

We should hit Tallahassee around three on Thursday. We are heading to Orlando for a soccer tournement of all things. We will get one day of vacation though.

We had Chinese food for dinner today! It was good. Then I came home and just had a big piece of my homemade Italian Cream Cake with big cup of black coffee.

You’re going to be pretty close to me if you are headed into northern Mississippi. I live in Northeast Arkansas, just south of Jonesboro, which is about 70 miles northwest of Memphis if you’re familiar with the area, Gib.

    Safe journey!

    Hugs,

    Diane

As far north into Arkansas as I go is to Crossett, way down on the southern border. I do/have gone to Memphis a few times in the last two years, but that is not very often.
I’ll be in Roberts La Friday…

    Hugs back at ya. :)

My wife and I love those Chinese buffets. We have three here in town, and we always stuff ourselves when we go there.

Oh yum!! I have been hungry for chinese too.
I used to be able to do ppretty well at the ‘all you can eat’ places,b8ut now that I am a bit older, I never feel that I am getting my monry’s worth. We do have one place in town that I enjoy occassionally, like maybe once a year. Health wise I really can’t afford to do it often, but in the evenings they have every kind of seafood imaginable. I begin at the big container of crab and just work my way around. I wear elastic waistbands and it’s a good thing!

they had boiled shrimp, fried shrimp, garlic shrimp, crab, crab legs, king crab legs, smoked tuna and smoked salmon. I love it all :)
